The title, Bimbos of the Death Sun, comes from a fictional novel in the story. A university engineering professor writes a serious science fiction novel using real science, but his crappy publishing company (in order to increase sales) names it "Bimbos of the Death Sun" and gives it a racy cover.To help promote sales of his book, the author agrees to be a guest of honor at a local gaming convention. Hilarity ensues.On a positive note, I love how they portray gamers and cons. It's a bit over the top, but not by much. The author obviously knows and understands the sub-culture of tabletop gaming, D&D, and the associated fan conventions.On a negative note, the book was first published in 1988 when personal computers were still fairly new, cell phones weren't in wide use, and the world wide web didn't yet exist. So it's somewhat dated. They are literally using 5.25" floppy disks and Norton Utilities.I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It's a humorous romp through the world of gaming, silly at times and serious at others. The writing is good. The story flows well.Recommended.
